The discovery of a spider that's on the federal endangered species list halted road work in San Antonio for a contractor for whom bonding companies have since taken over several projects. The $15.1 million project was halted after the spider was found in August to allow scientists to study the habitat of the Bracken Bat Cave meshweaver, according to the company's bankruptcy-protection filing. The filing left $112 million in Texas Department of Transportation projects uncompleted, according to reports.
