The Indian Health Service -- the federal agency responsible for offering health services to American Indians and Alaska Natives -- is set to upgrade its Resource and Patient Management System by next year to satisfy the standards set by the federal government for storing and documenting EHRs. The initiative will include upgrades to allow providers with customized versions of the RPMS to exchange data, as well as allowing RPMS users to exchange data with health groups and professionals outside of the system.
