General Motors will bring Long-Term Evolution technology into most of its vehicles by mid-2014 for the following year's models, CEO Dan Akerman said in a speech Thursday in which he called cars and trucks the "next major technology platform." Akerman pointed to research showing average daily personal smartphone use of 2.5 hours versus 15 hours a week spent in a vehicle. "Marry the two and you have a megatrend that we intend to harness for competitive advantage," Akerman said.
