Candidates who seem too desperate to get a job can undermine their chances of being hired, writes Jeffrey Kudisch, managing director of the Office of Career Services at the Robert H. Smith School of Business. Job seekers should avoid going into a "hyper sales mode," or speaking too loudly or quickly about their qualifications. Also, they should not overwhelm employers with too much follow-up -- one e-mail is enough, he suggests. "Stay calm, collected and confident -- it's about changing your state of mind," Kudisch writes.
