The Los Angeles Board of Education has approved the first phase of a 14-month roll-out of iPads districtwide. Under the plan, the district will spend $30 million to equip students in 47 schools with the devices by the end of the year. The remaining schools will receive the tablets within 14 months as part of the second phase. Tamar Galatzan, a school board member, described this approach as the "least-expensive" option.
