The music program in West St. Paul-Mendota Heights-Eagan school district in Minnesota has been affected by budget cuts in the past, but officials have for been working to restore it -- in reversal of what has become a national trend to cut music programs. Officials say they are investing more in music teachers, instruments and other resources. "It's not just about the music, it's about the lessons it teaches and the way the brain learns to learn," said Michael Butera, executive director of the National Association for Music Education.
