A four-year collaboration between U.S. bottle-maker O-I and Portuguese cork manufacturer Amorim has resulted in a new twist-off cork that can be reused to create an airtight seal without altering the taste, aroma or color of the wine. "Our research has found that at least 80% of consumers prefer the cork-and-glass combination for their wine. ... [N]ow we have made it easier to use. And it is still the most sustainable option," said Erik Bouts, president of O-I Europe. The Helix cork and bottle will come to market in two years.
