Ohio State University President Gordon Gee on Tuesday announced he is retiring, effective July 1. During his career as a college president, Gee has been under fire for several verbal gaffes, including remarks about Roman Catholics and Notre Dame University that recently were made public. However, Gee said in explaining his decision to step down: "I live in turbulent times, and I've had a lot of headwinds, and at almost every occasion I have just moved on. But remember, I am 69 years of age, and I had been thinking about a transition for some time."
