High-school sophomores in the Pocono Mountain School District in Pennsylvania will take a full-year civics class containing information from the U.S. citizenship test. Officials recently made the curriculum change, which is intended to teach about the levels of government, history and the meaning of American symbols. "We'll talk about what makes someone a competent or respectable citizen," said Kathleen Smith, science and social studies supervisor for the school district.
