Propane marketers who are looking to build bulk plants should work closely with the community to establish relationships and build trust to dispel negative perceptions about propane, industry experts say. The Propane Education & Research Council also offers resources to help retailers educate communities about propane's safety. "Ultimately, [propane] is not only a safety issue ... but it's about [the community's] property values and things of that sort," said Stuart Flatow, PERC's vice president of safety and training.
