The passage of an updated version of the American Society for Testing Materials' Phase I standards for environmental site assessments is expected this summer after approval by the Environmental Protection Agency. The new version will include a more-specific definition of the Historical Recognized Environmental Condition and add the Controlled Recognized Environmental Condition category, which would affect sites with controlled contamination that may result in future obligations. Other proposed changes address vapor intrusion and regulatory file reviews.
