Adjustable gastric band surgery was associated with significant weight loss and significant to total reductions in comorbidities such as diabetes, hyperlipidemia and respiratory disorders in moderately obese patients with a BMI of 30 to 35, according to an analysis in the journal Surgery for Obesity and Related Diseases. Researchers also noted low rates of complications associated with the procedure, suggesting it was "safe and feasible with good short-term outcomes in mildly obese patients."
