Severe weather that includes tornadoes, strong winds and hail caused damage to buildings across the Midwest, uprooting trees and cutting power supply in the process, according to the U.S. Storm Prediction Center. Forecasters are monitoring the occurrence of a derecho, which happens when several thunderstorms form together, as they are "not as confident in the evolution of a long-lived derecho per earlier outlooks," the Storm Prediction Center's outlook report stated.
