Siemens has signed a deal with New Zealand's LanzaTech to develop and market equipment for turning gases from steel mills into ethanol. Under the deal, Siemens will help install LanzaTech's fermentation technology at existing steel mills or design new mills with LanzaTech technology. LanzaTech finished two "pre-commercial" projects last year at Chinese steel mills operated by Shanghai Baosteel Group and Shougang Group.
