The Ellen and Joe Wright Prosthetic and Orthotic Fund was set up at New York's Hospital for Special Surgery to provide prosthetic and orthotic devices not covered by insurance for patients of all ages. The fund began as a program for children and youths, but has expanded to include adults and has helped treat about 100 patients, including a young boy who outgrew his orthotic shoes, children with spina bifida and scoliosis, and patients who have suffered severe injuries.
