Kalispell Public Schools in Montana will begin requiring students to complete a third year of math before graduation. In the past, students only had to complete two courses. Amid concerns that the new standard could lead to higher dropout rates, school officials said they will work to create multiple pathways for satisfying the revised math sequence. "We need to come up with courses that will meet the needs of those kids who tend to struggle, but I firmly believe, given time, any kid can succeed in math," principal Peter Fusaro said.
