Skin graft donor sites covered with hydrocolloid dressings healed significantly faster than wounds covered with alginate, film, gauze, hydrofiber or silicone dressings in a comparison of 288 patients. Wounds covered with gauze dressings had the highest infection rate, and researchers found only minimal differences in pain scores among the dressings. The study is published in the British Journal of Surgery.
