A study by the Medical Group Management Association highlighted the concerns of doctors regarding the ICD-10 transition next year. The study, which involved about 1,200 medical groups representing more than 55,000 physicians, found that doctors' greatest concern about meeting the ICD-10 compliance deadline is the absence of coordination and communication of practices with partners such as EHR vendors. "A successful transition to ICD-10 requires coordination between providers and their vendor, clearinghouse and health plan trading partners. Our data suggest that many practices are in the dark in terms of moving forward with ICD-10 as this coordination has not yet occurred," said MGMA President and CEO Dr. Susan L. Turney.
