While Chicago offers more than 2,000 after-school learning opportunities in science, technology, engineering and math, not all students are taking advantage of these offers, education reporter Nora Fleming writes in this blog post. A study conducted by the Chicago STEM Pathways Cooperative revealed that some minority groups are underrepresented in these programs. Data also revealed that more girls -- 56% -- than boys -- 44% -- are participating in out-of-school STEM programs.
