Although there is no evidence of Schmallenberg virus in the U.S., University of Wyoming researcher and veterinarian Rob Cordery-Cotter is educating U.S. veterinarians and livestock producers about the virus, including the devastation it caused in Europe and the signs of infection. Cordery-Cotter saw the virus' effects when he worked as a visiting research scientist at the University of Nottingham School of Veterinary Medicine and Science in the U.K. He is giving presentations in the U.S. and is compiling information regarding the midge-transmitted disease to share with the AVMA.
