Data from almost 5,000 U.K. children revealed that those who were bullied in elementary school had a fivefold higher risk of harming themselves during their teen years. Girls were more likely than boys to manifest symptoms of depression in adolescence and were more likely to self-harm, according to the study in the Journal of the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry.
