School leaders are key to creating a culture in which all students can succeed, writes Salome Thomas-EL, head of school at Thomas Edison Charter School in Wilmington, Del. In this blog post, he writes that there was an improvement in the school culture when his school added chess and problem-solving to the curriculum and two years ago adopted Franklin Covey's "Leader in Me" program, in which students and staff learned about leadership and collaboration.
