North American orders for Class 8 trucks declined last month, but net orders still increased 13% compared with June 2012. Classes 5-7 orders decreased month on month but grew by 6% year over year. "Given the softer customer activity, both Class 8 and Classes 5-7 backlogs are likely to be reduced as [original equipment manufacturers] build more vehicles than they received orders for during June," said Steve Tam, vice president for commercial vehicles at ACT Research.
