DIRECTV will shepherd in a new era in entertainment on Aug. 1 when it introduces DogTV, a premium network that features programming specifically tailored for the family pooch. The service will provide a free two-week peek, and subscribers will receive a doggy-bag of promotional items. Don't expect to find "Old Yeller" or "Lassie" on the 24-hour network -- it will instead features short clips designed to relax, stimulate and entertain dogs, as well as distract them from engaging in more destructive activities.
