Advocacy groups and nine senators have asked the Obama administration to expand subsidies for dental benefits under the Affordable Care Act. Advocates say the HHS ruling separating pediatric dental benefits from other essential health benefits is a setback, and the NADP joined other advocacy groups in urging the Internal Revenue Service to include the costs of dental benefits when calculating allowable subsidies. "The intention was to increase the number of people with coverage, but the system put in place won't necessarily do that," said NADP Executive Director Evelyn Ireland about the ACA.
