The Indiana State Board of Education has tabled a discussion on Superintendent of Public Instruction Glenda Ritz's proposal to replace the state's third-grade pass-fail standardized reading exam with test that gives each student a reading-level score. Her plan also calls for the removal of a law requiring students who fail the exam to be held back, but board members stopped the discussion by saying it was too soon to change the law that was passed two years ago.
