The Senate's plan for nuclear waste management is a "promising framework for addressing key issues," said Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz at a hearing on Tuesday. Speaking before the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, Moniz did not formally endorse the proposed Nuclear Waste Administration Act, which is based on the recommendations of the Blue Ribbon Commission on America's Nuclear Future, but said that the Obama administration would work with lawmakers to create a new agency to oversee the handling of nuclear waste.
