The Merchant Customer Exchange, a group of large retailers setting up a mobile-payment network, has hired a former credit card industry veteran to lead the fledgling company. Dekkers Davidson, who ran Barclaycard's U.S. mobile-payment unit, will oversee a consortium that includes Wal-Mart Stores, Target, 7-Eleven and Dunkin' Brands Group. MCX, which would compete with the mobile-carrier backed Isis and Google Wallet, has also been expanding its business model to include smaller merchants.
