Workers at Antarctica's Amundsen Scott South Pole Station are cut off from the outside world and live in perpetual darkness for six months out of the year -- and many take to drinking to get through the long polar winter. Workers huddle in a shed they've converted into a dive bar and work their way through a huge stockpile of beer, wine and spirits while trying not to get on each other's nerves. "By the time a year has gone by, you pretty much know everyone's stories. There is no escape," says South Pole bartender Phil Broughton.
