A study of 1,751 infants in two NICUs found low rates of antimicrobial-resistant organism colonization among infants who transferred to the unit before they were 7 days old, compared with older babies, researchers reported in Pediatric Infectious Disease Journal. They wrote that a safe and more effective strategy may be culturing infants who are 7 days or older at the time of transfer to the NICU.
