Spending on next-generation broadband and other technology fields in emerging markets will grow from $124 billion in 2012 to $272 billion in 2017, according to a study released by the Ovum market research company and the Linklaters law firm. Advanced broadband will represent most of that spending, but the areas of applications and content, cloud services, mobile health and mobile payments will also show significant growth in the next four years, the study forecasts.
