Swedish researchers followed 248 7- to 8-year-olds with asthma until they were 19 years old and found that 26% of boys experienced remission by age 19 compared to 14% in girls. Remission rates were lower in youths with severe asthma and those who were sensitive to furry animals such as dogs and cats, according to the study published in the journal Pediatrics.
