T-Mobile US bought valuable 4G bandwidth for key urban markets in the South and Midwest, paying $308 million to U.S. Cellular for 10 MHz of Advanced Wireless Spectrum in a Mississippi Valley region that covers 32 million people, the carriers announced Friday. The deal will bolster T-Mobile's Long-Term Evolution networks in markets such as St. Louis, Kansas City, Nashville and New Orleans. U.S. Cellular is disposing of spectrum that the regional carrier bought for $123 million in a 2008 auction.
