A resume isn't necessarily a true indicator of whether a person will be a good fit for a job, writes Jim Belosic, CEO of ShortStack. It's more helpful to use a trial period, or to ask candidates to perform some of their job duties during the interview process. "For example, if you're hiring someone to answer phones, have candidates answer a mock phone call and see how they do," Belosic writes.
