The U.S. market for applications, app-enabled purchases and in-app advertising will be worth $151 billion by 2017, more than double what it is now, according to AppNation. Paid-app downloads will account for less than $1 billion of this year's $72 billion in app-related revenue, but this segment will top $1 billion within four years, the market research firm estimates.
