The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force stated in new, final recommendations that there is inadequate evidence to support glaucoma screening for asymptomatic patients and early treatment of the condition. "It's clear that the treatment can improve the disease," said task force chairwoman Dr. Virginia Moyer. "It's not crystal clear that the treatment of disease before it's noticeable improves the outcome." The statement was published in the Annals of Internal Medicine.
