The James River in Virginia recently became a classroom for 36 participants, which included students and teachers, who rafted sections of the waterway and camped at historic Westover Plantation in Charles City County. The annual expedition, in its third year, was created by the James River Association and funded by a $50,000 Dominion Foundation grant. "You're always looking for ways to make what you're teaching important to students," said Aimee Sobon, a teacher at Highland Springs High School in Virginia.
