Overall, real wages in New York City have risen since 2000 but not since 2007, according to the latest statistics. For all industries, the average real wage rose from $65,902 in 2000 to $74,780 in 2007 and then declined to $69,895 in 2012. For Wall Street, the rise and fall was more dramatic, with wages rising from $270,055 in 2000 to $374,868 in 2007 and then dropping back to $313,278 in 2012.
