AT&T said it will upgrade 420 markets to Long-Term Evolution technology by the end of 2013 after having completed 77 out of the 78 small towns the carrier had targeted for the summer. The company, whose 4G network has passed 225 million people, disclosed an additional 50 markets that it will reach this fall and winter with an eye on reaching at least 270 million people this year -- 90% of the way to completing a nationwide network.
