Recent studies have the potential to be game changers in the treatment of pediatric cardiac arrest, including one to be published in Critical Care Medicine that shows 95% of in-hospital cardiac arrests now occur in an ICU, said Dr. Bob Berg, head of Pediatric Critical Care at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. The other studies found compliance with the Get With the Guidelines resuscitation program improved survival rates and that 12% of children who had 35 minutes of CPR survived to discharge and had similar neurologic outcomes as children who had CPR for 10 minutes.
