The Georgia After School Statewide Network and the Georgia Foundation for Public Education Partners are launching a pilot after school program that seeks to bring foreign language training to students across the state. The program was developed in response to feedback from business leaders who say language education is unevenly distributed, said Greg Barfield of the state department of education. Programs will vary by school, but languages could include German, French, Mandarin, Spanish and Portuguese, Barfield said.
