YouTube has upped the number of courtesy application programming interface data operations tenfold, from 5 million to 50 million per day, ending a period of testing limits, Frederic Lardinois writes. The Google-owned company is also reducing the cost of uploading video from 16,000 to 1,600 units. The Data API permits developers to search YouTube results and "retrieve, insert, update, and delete resources like videos or playlists," according to Google. "[T]oday's update should give many developers the reassurance that they can scale their apps without hitting YouTube's limits anytime soon," Lardinois writes.
