New mobile applications such as Pounce make it easy for users to scan images in print media with their smartphone or tablet cameras and click to buy online directly from participating retailers. Pounce's retail partners include Staples, Target, Toys R Us and Ace Hardware. Other companies including eBay and Amazon have also created their own image recognition apps that use the technology to identify specific items and help shoppers find similar ones in their online marketplaces.
