U.S. researchers analyzed urine samples from 766 12- to 19-year-olds who participated in the 2003-2008 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, and found 21.6% of those with the highest concentrations of di-2-ethylhexylphthalate were insulin resistant. The study in the journal Pediatrics found that for every threefold increase in DEPH concentration markers, there was a slight spike in a person's insulin resistance marker.
