The Kansas State Board of Education on Tuesday heard a presentation from Kathy Gosa, the State Department of Education's IT director, that addressed concerns of some parents that data collected on students under the new Common Core State Standards will violate their privacy. Gosa said the data are aggregated and not specific to individual students or parents. Also at the meeting, the board said it might ask lawmakers to beef up a law requiring notification of felony convictions after the licenses of six teachers were revoked for such offenses.
