An aging workforce of skilled tradespeople and a decline in the number of construction jobs during the recession has led to worker shortages in some areas of the U.S., contributing to construction delays, increased wages and a crimp in the recovery of the housing market, according to Bloomberg. "It’s less [about] the guys who wear suits and boots, like the project managers, it’s the guys who wear boots and jeans," says Brian Turmail of the Associated General Contractors of America. Some companies have turned to starting their own training programs.
