About 46% of 85 teens who developed fibromyalgia met the full criteria for the condition seven years later and had 11 of the 18 tender points linked to fibromyalgia, a study showed. Participants in the study who continued to experience symptoms in their adulthood were more likely to report greater anxiety, depression and functional disability levels compared with patients whose condition had improved. The findings were presented at the American Pain Society conference.
