Math educators at Shawnee Heights High School in Tecumseh, Kan., have ditched textbooks in favor of a teacher-developed math curriculum and adoption of a new math sequence. Students no longer enroll in algebra I, geometry and then algebra II, but rather, take math I, II and III, with each math course incorporating concepts from algebra and geometry. The changes are part of the school's implementation of the Common Core State Standards.
