Parents and teachers this week told the New Hampshire State Board of Education they want to see more high-school math and keep consumer science classes in schools as changes are being made to the state's minimum standards. Some of the changes include a shift from credit- to competency-based education, in which students can pass only if they show mastery of a subject. In addition, the board is considering increasing math requirements from three years to four and dropping requirements that schools offer courses in nutrition and child development.
