Nokia is trying to attract developers to its Asha 501 smartphone by offering a software development kit and a series of 18 webinars in an effort to compete with low-end Android phones, Mikael Ricknas writes. The SDK should make the "development, testing, packaging and deployment of Java apps on the Asha OS easier. ... It includes features such as sensor and multi-touch simulation as well as [application programming interfaces] for Here Maps and notifications," Ricknas writes.
